">LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5, 2015 /Daily Offbeat/ -- Hudson Leick's Healing Heart Yoga announced a series of intensive retreats. Daily Offbeat discussed Buddhist Compassion with Zeena Scheck, and are happy to pass on a report from Callisto, Leick's most renowned former incarnation, from the classic TV series "Xena: The Warrior Princess."Practitioners who worry they might need the physique of the Warrior Queen can relax. The retreats are open to all levels and body types.
“A time for deep spiritual and physical transformations, a place to renew and restore yourself awaits you,” reads her official website. “An open invitation for beginners to diehard yogi’s. All body types, all ages, and abilities are welcome. A place to feed yourself more kindness, meet open hearted humans, to laugh, play, and just have fun!
“My intention is to create a safe place for you to get more connected to yourself and to learn how to be more present, which in the end just means to deepen your love and acceptance of self.”
The retreats consist of four 1.5 – 2 hour yoga classes and a sacred movement dance class. There will also be chanting, meditating, sharing, welcome circle, closing circle, and a special secret picnic, if the weather permits.
Hudson specializes in Kundalini, Hatha, and a modified version of Ashtanga yoga, and her classes are a subtle blend of these methods.
“Xena: The Warrior Princess” painted spirituality with broad strokes. Hudson has been studying yoga for over twenty years and taught for more than sixteen. She is a member of the California Yoga Teacher’s Association and studied with such yoga masters such as Ana Forrest, Erich Schiffman and Gurmukh.
Hudson Leick studied Vipassana meditation in Nepal.One of India’s most ancient meditation techniques, Vipassana means to see things as they are. The medtiation was rediscovered by Gotama Buddha. Leick practices Kriya Yoga, which leads to God Consciousness in its most devoted adherents. .
Hudson also practices the 5Rhythms approach to movement, developed by trance musician-turned-Yoga Guru Gabrielle Roth, which mixes shamanistic, ecstatic, mystical and eastern philosophy for fluidity.
Her first retreat will be at The Inn at Fox Hollow in Woodbury, New York on October 16th-18th, 2015.
In November, Hudson will be holding a hometown retreat in Los Angeles at Hilton Garden Inn LAX/El Segundo on November 13th-15th, 2015.
“All you need is an open mind and willingness to learn,” her site promises. “Yoga helps you connect so much deeper to yourself. It strengthens and stretches your physical body – YES, and it also calms your nervous system down.”
In December she will be returning to the Czech Republic.
